Hoffman House

Simplicity is the point of this tall farmhouse form on South Main. A single steep gable runs the length of the house in pale green lap siding, with a metal roof and white trim. The windows are tall and regular, stacked in plain rows from the raised base to the attic.

The front is where it opens up. A deep porch sits on square posts above a flight of steps, with a small pediment over the door to mark the way in. Small touches keep the plain walls lively, such as a narrow balcony rail set into a single window opening. Mountains fill in behind.
