Through remote collaboration on a planning charrette led by Town Planning and Urban Design Collaborative, the studio was commissioned to explore an alternate elevation for a proposed fire and police station on the town square in Holtville, California. The town was concerned about how such a building would affect its main square and was not fully happy with the design on the table.

The re-skin simplifies the composition and massing, improves specific proportions and brings in traditional detailing. The before and after elevations are paired so the changes can be read side by side, with the apparatus bays along one front and the long public face along the other.
