Sterner House stands in a row of narrow houses along a shared walk, one more voice on a street where each front is different. The walls are smooth and pale, with a deep bracketed cornice along the top and dark window surrounds in sets of three.
The porch is the strong move. Slim dark posts lift a slatted roof with a small pediment over the entry, and a steep stair climbs from the walk over a stone base. Seen from below, the porch reads as a light frame held off the wall, so the house keeps its flat, upright face.
The kitchen sits in one open room with a wood-topped island and open shelves. The drawings show the front in its row and a long plan with the main rooms set one behind another.
