Craft Design Studio is at 204 Spooner Lane in Mount Pleasant. The work nearby runs from in-fill in downtown Charleston to houses in Mount Pleasant neighborhoods, Sullivan’s Island and Kiawah River.
Tu, at 430 Meeting Street, opened in 2017 as a restaurant split across two buildings, one a modern dining space with a small bar and outdoor patio, the other the first story of a Charleston single family home. The studio was the architect. Tu closed in 2021 and Bedford Falls later opened in the space.
On Catfiddle Street, an in-fill pocket neighborhood in downtown Charleston, Kenny was involved in the design of two of the houses, along with a number of other architects and designers. Witold Rybczynski helps tell the story of the street in the 2019 book Charleston Fancy.
In Mount Pleasant the studio designed the Craft House at Earl’s Court and the Damjanovic House in I’On. On Sullivan’s Island, Kenny was the architect of a house built in 2020 by Alka Construction, and at Kiawah River, after a period on the Architectural Review Board, Kenny designed the Wren House in the Bell Cove enclave. On Johns Island, the City of Charleston hired Town Planning and Urban Design Collaborative to write a comprehensive plan and form-based code for a 72 square mile district, and the studio took part in that charrette work.
